I am very aware that sometimes, building a good career can be all about who you know instead of what you know. Which is ridiculous really because if that’s the case, then why do I spend so much time learning new things? Anyway, regardless of how correct the saying is, it’s basically a general all-round good idea to meet and talk to like-minded people and explore what others in the industry are doing. With that in mind I decided to set up a twitter account that is purely for professional purposes. I hope to use it to my advantage; being alerted of the most recent job vacancies as they appear and keeping up to date with what different design firms are working on. So far I haven’t had too much to say or “tweet” as I’m still getting the hang of it and I’m not exactly sure what type of things I should say on it if it’s professional, so for the time being I’m content with making new contacts and reading everyone else’s posts about new designs or the latest green technology.
I’ve included some screen shots of people and firms and magazines that are following me and some others that I am following. This is purely for the benefit of my uni work, to show what methods I’m trying out in order to become more familiar with the design industry.
I have a link on my twitter account which directs people to this blog, offering them the chance to see my work and read more about what I do.
