With every new year comes new opportunities and I’m so excited for what this year has in store! As a final year degree student I’m now eligible to enter the Janine Stone Young Interior Designer Award, which I’ve been following since it started 3 years ago. It’s a design based competition for all Interior Design and Interior Architecture students in their final year of a BA at a UK university; and the entries it receives are some of the highest quality student work in the country! The winning prize is £10,000 and a six month paid internship at Janine Stones’ design offices in either London or Manchester. Two runners up will receive £1,000. Just reading about it gives me butterflies!
This years brief is titled Inhabitation and is all about creating “a project that demonstrates innovative forms of meaningful interior inhabitation.” It’s about demonstrating the many different ways in which people can inhabit and interact with a space whilst also showing how the purpose of a space can affect its design. There are so many possible outcomes for this brief I can’t even start to imagine what the winning entry will look like.
The closing date for entries is 5pm on 30th April 2013, so I’d better get cracking because I definitely want to enter and of course I’d love to win but we will just have to wait and see what unexpected treats are entered by the hundreds of other Interior Designers in the UK. Good Luck everyone!
